I had a hard time identifying this hummer. It flew in after Hurricane Sandy's winds had shifted around so they were coming in from the west. It's the first we've seen in over a week. It looked stockier than the ruby-throats we are used to, though it may be because it was chilly (~50 degrees). It had a greenish back, some rufous or fawn coloring at the base of it's tail as seen from above, a slightly tawny belly, and a white throat with a dark chin spot about half the size of a dime. I thought maybe a juvenile male rubythroat, or female rufous. It nectared hungrily on the salvia in the garden and a little on the feeder.
