I have had an immature or female Rufous Hummingbird since Nov 5th or so. I believe this bird may have become stranded during Hurricane Sandy as it hit the East Coast. I first saw the bird, in a weakened condition, with very slow wing beats, at the hummingbird feeder I forgot to bring in. I quickly made some fresh nectar and the little guy has been around ever since, looking much healthier, but I'm concerned now that the colder weather is upon us. I figured he/she would leave with the mild weather Maryland experienced for a few weeks. The bird appears very fearful of windy conditions.
