Tulips PLANTED

Date: 12/05/2012

Number: 1

We are first graders in Mrs. John's class at Heritage Elementary and today we planted our tulip test garden. We planted our bulbs with our Science Specialist and our PTA donated all the bulbs. We used Red Emperor bulbs and made sure to plant them 4 inches apart. Mrs. Austin called us over in groups and we had to work with our partner to dig until we reached the bottom of the ruler, which meant we the hole was 7 inches deep. While we were waiting to plant we sat with our partner and drew a picture of our bulb and added labels to make it a diagram and then we wrote about the rules we had to follow to plant the bulbs. All together we planted 11 bulbs and we are the only first grade class to participate in this project. Mrs. Austin normally does the project with big kids. We did a great job. Next week we will make our predictions about when they will bloom and learn more about Journey North.
