Bald Eagle

Date: 12/05/2012

Number: 1

We have eagles all year long. Seems like they stay in the water ways and swamp areas in the summer. We don't see them comeing to their individual nesting place until Oct. thru May. I watch a pair year after year right next to a highway. Until Hurracane blew the nest apart. every year they raised two babies. (This Highway was planned to go into another direction but the birds were nesting in that direction. The direction had to be changed, but when the clearing was made for the new road the eagles moved their nest right by the new right of way.) At first I thought they migrated when I didn't see them after May. Then I realized they just went to another area for summer where they could fish and feed better; also a more shaded and cooler area. Swamps and Bayous. Can see them in this area all summer; really year round, some do nest in this area also. This is just my observations. We see them flying over head, ofton. after Oct.
