Sightings report image

Date: 12/21/2012

Number: 24

In addition to 4 in nearby trees that I could easily see, I have counted 20 Anna's at one time, males outnumbering females, on our two feeders combined. I could hear even more. They double up at one port and take turns dipping into the feeder. They would never share this way in the Springtime! They are going through about 40 ounces of sugar water per day. This has been going on since at least as long ago as mid-August. All but a few usually leave for a few months of each year, so most of them might leave any day. I am attaching a picture that shows twenty. Remember to count the ones on the opposite side that you can only verify by the tips of their tails showing underneath. The dark areas showing in the top half of the feeders are ice.
