Robin (WAVE seen)
Sightings report image

Date: 01/07/2013

Number: 1000

Today there are thousands of robins in the tree canopy (oaks ad palms) in our yard. They are singing loudly. Almost deafening compared to the relative silence yesterday.

Too many to count. Literally blanketing our two
grand oaks, several smaller oaks, 27 palm trees which are a part of the
property, and also the neighbors trees (about six more grand oaks and
various palms). I would estimate one thousand or more. My white car is
covered in poop! This is the number of individuals that we typically see
when they arrive here.

I checked your website and noticed that someone who lives about fifty miles
north of me reported seeing them a day or two before my sighting. Also,
some sightings in cocoa beach area the day before (which is directly east
from Tampa, about 130 miles)

I also did more reading on your site. It is so fascinating. I am from PA
originally and before I moved to Florida, I had never even heard of a FLOCK
of robins. I always knew them to be more solitary. Also never heard them
sing much. Probably couldn't have recognized their song before hearing them
in Florida.

I also realized that in addition to Palm Tree Berries, our property has a
BayBerry Tree with lots of berries on it (all over the driveway). I
understand they eat that, too.

They are gone now. In fact, when I snapped the photo I sent you, they had
just started to move on. About three hours after the photo was taken, they
were completely gone. They had been here since early morning, though.

Next year I will be more aware of them and I will try to get some video with
sound. It is really LOUD singing !
