We observed the bald eagle around 11:30 am from the window of our cottage. Our cottage is perched quite high above Lake of Bays in Muskoka Ontario and the eagle landed on a dead pine the top of which is at our eye level. We figure it was about 100 feet away from us, was at least 36" tall. It's body was dark brown with a white head and shortish beak. We verified it with our bird book. This is the first time we have seen the bald eagle but our neighbour claims to have seen two of them chase off a wolf who had just taken down a deer on his property just next to ours last year.
