We are thrilled to participae another year. We are hoping for a better tulip harvest than in 2012. Last year the squirrels on our campus were so aggressive...they ate all but 3 of our 250+ tulips that the students planted. This year each bulb was sprayed with an organic squirrel repellant before the day of planting. After planting, the pellets of Irish Spring soap were scattered over the tulip beds (used food processer to shred about 8 soap bars.) So far, so good...not one bulb has been dug up. If you have any ideas on how to beat the battle of the tree rats, let us know.
