Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/16/2013

Number: 1

North of Quemado about 5 miles on Hwy 277 are lots of pecan orchards. I was driving, so it was a quick view of a vividly fresh monarch with little fade leaving an orchard beside the road. They've had a few brief frosts there and one 28 degree reading. But temps at night are usually in the 40s to 50s. Days rise to 60s or better. I have a bit of salvia blooming and lots of bougainvillia all around the country. Plan to do a wildflower survey to see what's blooming this winter later today.
