Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 11/04/2012

Number: 1

Today a beautiful male monarch was born in our house! I had brought in a larva found on Oct. 22 (photo is on that date's observation) on one of our native milkweed plants (Asclepius viridis). It formed its chrysalis on Oct. 25. That same day I had been surprised to see an adult monarch resting on a tree branch at the edge of our woods. So lovely to see and hold this newborn butterfly and the last I think I will see till next spring! Hoping all will be well with the monarchs in Mexico :)
