The date above is an estimate. On approximately 1/16/2013 I noticed 16-18 monarch catepillars that were almost ready to make their chrysilises. I estimate the first week in January 2013 to be when the eggs were laid. The milkweed plants had full vegetation and are now completely bare. The temperatures this winter have not dropped down below 40 degrees.
