Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/15/2013

Number: 1

Saw first robin of the year late morning while driving along a local rural road a few kilometers southeast of Duncan about a half kilometer from the ocean less than 100 meters elevation. It was sitting about 15 feet from me on some roadside bushes as I drove by. We are having a fairly mild and forgiving winter so far. It doesn't surprise me there are robins around although this is the only one I've seen. Not sure if some usually stay year round ie Victoria, but we don't see them show up in Duncan until much later. It had nice bright red coloring and looked to be in good health. Lots of other birds at our feeder in Duncan this year. Male and female juncos, towhees, chickadees, house sparrows, occasional flicker.
