Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 01/26/2013

Number: 1

On January 26, one of my children took these photos of mating monarchs in a place called San Antonio de la Cascada in the town of San Buenaventura, Coahuila, in central Coahuila. He saw 4 butterflies mating between cicomoros the edge of a stream.

During December and January I continued to receive reports of quite a few caterpillars remaining in the Monterrey metropolitan area, as well as reports of one or two butterflies from Coahuila and Nuevo Leon.

On January 17, I found a butterfly garden in a park in the city of Monterrey, a male monarch, caterpillars and 25 sq. ft. of milkweed.

With so many sightings of monarch butterflies born this year, it will be difficult to tell when they are going back north. Are people seeing the same phenomenon in Texas?

I would like to make some comments on the last migration: Most butterflies were observed in the second week of November, in Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, I think the butterflies that come from the U.S. East Coast also come to this region, we have always seen this increase in early November butterflies .
