I was totally taken aback to see my first robin so early here in Bedford, Virginia. We were on our way home from lunch at Liberty Station on Peaks Street. There he was hop hopping along. He was dressed in his gorgeous Virginia red clay vest and sharp dark brown sleeves and tail. Soon we'll see humongous flocks as they slowly migrate northward to Canada and New England. For now I am delighted to see a spring bird here and there. The robin is our harbiner of spring.
