A friend and I were touring The Kampong (part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden) in Coconut Grove while on a winter getaway to south Florida. (Yes it was as nice as it sounds, SIGH...) Our guide was pointing out one of the many lovely trees on the property, a "Bougainvillea Tree", when a member of our group noted that it had attracted butterflies as well as tourists:-) I saw they were monarchs acting very territorially (most likely both males). Between necataring, the one was continuously chasing the other off and away from the beautiful rosy-lavender-hued blossoms. Even though it was at quite some distance and WAY up in the air, I managed a few photographs, the best of which I've included here.
