Robin (First SEEN)
Sightings report image

Date: 01/25/2013

Number: 1

I noticed the lone Robin in late January on a cold day. I can't be sure if it is male or female, but I think male. It often perches in nearby coniferous branches, with a clear view of a berry filled Holly tree. The Robin is very territorial of this Holly tree! Obviously it is enjoying the berries and when other birds come close, the Robin lashes forth at them and they fly away, including a large Red-bellied Woodpecker! As I write, 02/18/13, the Robin is still here, spending days on the porch railing, which is much closer to the Holly tree. The days have been cold and twice we've had snow. I've seen a few other smaller Robins, but the big one is the daily resident and continues to guard the Holly tree.
