I have always had at least one(1) Rufus hummingbird stay at my house year around for the last 15 years of my record keeping. Last year (2012) a red throat hummingbird came and has stayed the here to date with the Rufus.
Of the last 15 years my hummingbirds girls come back on every march 15-17th. There was one year they did not arrive until march 29th. I believe that was due to a really bad snow & ice event thwithin the beginning of march farr south from us. I believe they decided to sit out the storm.
