Every year for the last several (8 years) I have kept track of the first male cardinal that starts singing for a mate in my back yard. This year, right on schedule on Valentines Day, I heard him again. Calling out for a mate. I have started tracking this sing of spring, as I thought it was early, but year after year, he sings on schedule even during the warmest or coldest years. Mark it down, spring is on the move.
