Okay, I have been bringing the caterpillars inside because of the cold temps in the 30s and 40s. But I left 2 caterpillars outside, this butterfly hatched today. I still have one more chrysalis left.
One thing that I have noticed is that survive our mild winters but the cold weather slows down their development. It took this butterfly a full 21 days to emerge. I was beginning to think something was wrong with it.
I live in Metairie, Louisiana which is 20 miles west of New Orleans.
