This morning finally enough snow melted off our tulip bed and the area surrounding it for our class to check to see if any tulips had emerged. To our great surprise several tulips had emerged, and nearly all of them were on the west side of the bed! The tallest was about 4 cm and the shortest was about 1 cm. I was hard to get an accurate count because the closer we looked, the more sprouts we saw! Most of the students counted between 12 and 15 tiny tulips. We wonder how they can grow in such cold weather.
