sap started ro run feb.25 but we didnt tap until today...lots of wet and heavy snow and freezing rain in the past two weeks. syrup producers recommend only a light tap this year because trees are stessed from drought so i have only 22 taps in. we will only boil down twice this spring. weather this week is perfect for sap..+3 today with sun n cloud and good sunny days ahead. chickadees singing a spring song...crows are paired up...there is water flowing in middle of pond...kids off for march break next week...just returned from sudbury where it was sunny but very cold and snowy...no sap up there yet.
