Tulips BLOOMED
Sightings report image

Date: 03/13/2013

Number: 1

Ms. Wiggins, third grade class 3B, observed that 2 out of 21 tulips had bloomed. The blooming tulips were the tallest, all the others were short and stumpy. The petals were red, with pinkish and brownish colors. The center of the bloom was a dark blackish color. Many of the leaves were dried up and appeared pinkish/brownish and felt like wet, floppy paper. Most had malformed blooms as well. We didn't see this last year but this winter we have had an enormous amount of rain and wonder if that has affected them. Today is sunny, with clear skies and cool. Some students' tulips have not changed in the past week. One of the green leaves had a hole in it. It could be either a catepillar or disease.
