All Other Signs of Spring

My wife and I were enjoying dinner on our deck facing the pecan orchard and we heard a faint sound of a bird we do not hear often. We listened closely and then looked upward as the sound was moving, but the distant sound remained somewhat garbled from our vantage point. Then, my wife spotted a group of 200 - 300 geese flying due north at an estimated altitude of 2000 - 3000 feet. The "V" formation was a spectacular sight. We had an opportunity to see the lead group change position and the "V" morph to allow new leaders take position.
