The robins were flying over the Cedar Hills Sand Prairie, a Nature Conservancy Preserve NW of Cedar Falls, Iowa. They were flying low (maybe 10 feet above ground level) toward a dense pine woodlot. It was a sunny day with a temperature just above freezing.
