Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted

Date: 03/24/2013

Number: 1

Sunday, March 24, 2013 - Our backyard has drip irrigation with drippers and misters. I have an Acanthus, also known as Bear's Breeches, that has large toothed, cupped leaves. The drippers and misters came on around 9 am. Suddenly we spotted a male FOS Black Chinned Hummer. He flew through the mist, settled belly down on a leaf, stretched out his wings, did a shimmy waddle, flew up about a foot, came back down and did it again. He did this for about 20 seconds, taking a bath in the mist. We were totally spellbound. I had never seen a hummer do this before. What a cool experience! Will work on a picture!
