Tulips EMERGED
Sightings report image

Date: 04/02/2013

Number: 1

We removed frozen leaves from our test garden sites. On Saturday, temperatures rose to +8C or so and so we decided to check the gardens for emergence today. Tulips we've planted in other gardens close to a building emerged over a week ago. Out of our 6 garden boxes at our test site, 3 of them had tulips emergence! We have to use shovels to remove frozen snow in some cases as today's temperatures plummeted to -10C - the coldest day on record for this date in the last 50 years. It does not feel like April!
