Staff at the Virginia Living Museum report that the first Journey North tulip planted in the museum's Children's Learning Garden by Educator Judy Molnar in November bloomed today. This year the tulips were planted in the center of the bed [rather than the edge of the bed as in previous years]. This may have caused them to emerge later than in previous years, but this 1st bloom is within the range of bloom recorded over the past 14 years. The flower stalk was very short probably due to the below normal temperatures for March locally. We are in the midst of finishing renovations to the CLG, which will reopen to the public on April 6. The Children’s Learning Garden began with Journey North tulips planted in Fall 1998.
