All of a sudden: Recent Reports of Mourning Cloak Butterflies in Ontario
March 29/12 seen by Craig and Bev M out walking their dog north of Whitby, Ont ario at the Heber Down Conservation Area – east of Toronto and north of Lake Ontario: http://tinyurl.com/bwolo52
March 29/30 – by Howie H in north Toronto: After seeing this and despite my really bad right hip I just had to check out Bestview Park. I saw at least two and probably three mourning cloaks in my favorite spot, which is a short walk into the woods from the SE corner of the tennis courts. It's really nice to see butterflies before all the snow is gone.
March 29 – Gail T in Oakville, Ontario – city west of Toronto on north shore of Lake Ontario: What a GREAT day! 2 beautiful Mourning Cloaks were basking in the sun in my yard in Oakville this afternoon. Their subtle coloring never ceases to amaze and delight me.
