Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/29/2013

Number: 1

The butterfly was flying across Cowhorn Creek just west of I 30 - in years past I have had 3 sightings on March 29 - several people observed a monarch in the same week this year and mentioned it to me. I have not seen milkweed from the highway, yet, but the thistles are ready to bloom, so that means milkweed should be coming up. With recent rains and now much warmer weather we are hoping for more sightings and eggs and larvae on the milkweed.
