I normally first see/hear robins the end of Feb/beginning of March. We had snow on the ground ALL March..., so that's likely why they haven't graced us with their presence. The first robin I heard was on 4/2/13 and it was very close to the house. I finally *saw* a robin in town on 4/4/13, and have seen several since. Also heard sandhill cranes 4/5/13 in the late morning. We still have most of the ground covered in snow, but no where as deep, and there are patches of mud and dormant grass showing.
