Saturday evening, after sunset but before dark, I happened to be looking out our front window and, much to my surprise, saw a lone hummer hovering over a tree in which we annually put a hummingbird feeder. The bird slowly rose higher into the sky, turned its head and looked around, hovered, then headed west. We rushed to put our feeders out (until this year we haven't seen any hummers earlier than April 16th), but we weren't quick enough. However, we're ready for them now!
