All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/08/2013

Number: 1

The trumpeter swans began to appear on about the 8th of April here. We have had 20 Canadian geese gathering at the holes that are open around the springs on the lake shore. We have one Great Blue Heron that is staying on the spring opening as well. We have about 2 feet of ice on the lake yet and 2 feet of snow still on the ground. April 17th I saw the first yellow-rumped warbler and the dark eyed juncos as well. I still have common redpolls coming to the feeders, they have not migrated out, but the Pine and evening grosbeaks have gone. Spring is late arriving this year but it does not seem to be stopping the birds.
