Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/22/2013

Number: 1

YAY!!!! Happy Earth Week! Have had my feeders out for about a month, due to Pollyanna Syndrome.
I was actually thinking about hummingbirds and when they would grace my yard again, glanced out at one of the feeders hanging from the carport, and there was a little Ruby throated male, he ate for a good 30 seconds and then flew off. this was at 2:14 p.m. Watching this afternoon, he is sticking around, making use of two different feeders (that I have seen!)
I was just now sitting on the back porch after planting a Red Maple tree, and he came and ate right in front of me!
I have a flowering crab, lilac, redbud, flowering quince, and cherry tree blooming, along with some potted annuals out.
SO HAPPY TO HAVE THEM BACK!! SUCH A JOY!! NOW IF THE FREEZING TEMPS WOULD JUST GIVE UP! WE HAVE ANOTHER COUPLE OF 32 DEGREE MORNINGS COMING UP WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, SO MY HANGING POTS WILL BE BACK ON THE KITCHEN TABLE! They have spent half of April there!
WELCOME LITTLE HUMMINGBIRD!
