Today on western_monarchs@yahoogroups.com Rob Santry, reported: "While photographing butterflies in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area today, a Monarch flew around a forest glade I was in and kept truckin' to the north. This locale is about 10-12 miles west of Redding, Shasta County, California. This is the first time I have recorded a Monarch butterfly in the Redding area in April. I have been keeping a butterfly journal since 2007 so I only have a five year span of time. But, this Monarch is about two weeks ahead of all my other early sightings. I expect to see them in mid-May."
