Barn Swallow (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/25/2013

Number: 1

Yesterday ( Wednesday April 24, 2013 ) while working on cleaning out our Garden Ponds, I heard about 3 Swallows flying around our Pine trees. My husband put up a box for them to nest in. Last year we had a nesting pair, however the House Wrens ousted them out, therefore the eggs did not hatch.
This year we changed the opening of the house from a round hole to an oval hole. Read somewhere that they prefer that type hole and it is suppose to keep the wrens out. We'll see what happens.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a successful nest of babies!
