Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 04/28/2013

Number: 1

I have put out a squirrel proof bird feeder under a large dogwood and have observed many birds since then. I put out Premium Songbird seed from Lowe's in the feeders and this morning I saw an Oriole under the Dogwood foraging on the ground. He would pounce back in forth with his feet to uncover or move the brush that has collected under the tree. I thought I saw one a week ago but it was just a flash of orange that flew away. We have had a mild winter this season. The Oriole was average size with bright orange on the chest and underside, a black head and back with some white spot pattern on the back or wing area.
