Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/30/2013

Number: 1

I noticed a hummer this morning seeming to struggle to breathe, not eating, staying low to ground. after watching for 30 minutes or more, we knew he needed to eat. We managed to catch him when he was on ground. I am now feeding him, keeping him warm and he appears to be getting more alert. I see no visible signs of injury, except that his tongue stayed out...thinking maybe he had bug caught in throat. He is drinking from syringe with red paper flower attached, and I am hopeful I can release him to his other 12 or so hummer friends later today. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
