Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/01/2013

Number: 1

I have had the pleasure of daily observations of the complete cycle of the Monarch butterfly since last spring when I planted my first milkweed plants. I am amazed that a day has not gone by where I haven't seen some sort of activity. Living here in south Florida must be the perfect location for daily sightings. I have observed as many as 23 catepillars on three plants and have had 8 chrysali on my Ponytail Palm at Christmas time (looked like ornaments). I also see many other kinds of butterflies such as the Zebra(our state butterfly), Spice Swallowtail, Viceroy, Queen, Julia and Gulf Fritllary.
