Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/02/2013

Number: 1

Put feeder up on April 30th. Saw first hummer early this AM as he flew away from feeder. This evening hummer came to feeder 5 times shortly before sunset. Pulled up a chair and was able to see that it was a smallish RT male and red patch was smallish looking too. It was a nice welcoming back because the bird was not overly cautious of me being there while shoving camera towards it. The last of the sugar maples is leafing out, while the new growth on one of the two norway spruces has about 1/4 new. The other pine no new growth yet.
