I'm sitting watching the last floes of slushy ice drift down the lake towards the river that flows from the lake down the side of the mountain. There's not much left; the temperature reached 22o Celcius this afternoon. By tonight, I'm sure all of it will be gone. But the ice hasn't deterred two young merganzer males from swimming and diving around the floes looking for snacks.
