Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/05/2013

Number: 1

Arrived late afternoon .... this is the first hummingbird we have seen this year.

Unfortunately I did not get a photo, to be honest I did not think of taking its photo as the Baltimore Oriole arrived during the same time period and I was focussing on it.
Both come to our porch for nectar.

The flowers that were/are in bloom are: Trout Lily; Trilliums (white & red); Pulmonaria (2 varieties); many Downy Serviceberry shrubs (our property has 65 acres of wetlands & 35 acres of meadows); Coltsfoot; yellow & blue violets ... and dandelions.
Our house & shed have bright red roofs!

He seemed smaller than usual but I thought perhaps it was because I had not seen one for a long time.
