Oriole (1st Bullock's)

Date: 04/10/2013

Number: 1

Actually I was originally trying to find information about the range and migratory pattern of the Oriole. I have lived in Napa, CA most of my life over 60 years. In all of that time I never observed an Oriole until approximately 5yrs ago. From the looks of the map showing the range it appears it is almost exclusively an east coast bird. The map I came across didn't show any sightings in California. I can attest they do come to California. I have never precisely timed there arrival or departure. I believe my first sighting this year was approx. first week in April through yesterday none so far today. After a hot spell, yesterday was 20deg cooler than the day before and its remaining cool today. Does that send them away on their migration? Where are they headed and where are they coming from?
