Ramsey Lake, near Sudbury, Ontario

"Get out the dragonboats and start scheduling practices: Ramsey Lake is now free of ice."

"Ice Guessing Contest Scott Hodgins of Sudbury Boat & Canoe said the last sliver of ice disappeared from the lake 7:50 p.m. April 30."

"'On Saturday (April 27), the lake was frozen right across,' he said. 'By late Saturday afternoon, there were cracks and it was breaking up and going. It's the quickest (melt) I've ever seen.'"

"The ice's 2013 departure was in sharp contrast to what happened in 2012 when the lake was clear at 7:20 p.m. April 8."
