Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/09/2013

Number: 1

We have had about 5 or so male Rubies and only one female until yesterday afternoon. For some reason we are now swamped with near 20 of the little darlings. I'm guessing about 75% males. Sometimes there are six at any feeder. We have six small feeders up around the perimeter of the house with the eastern most end of the house being the favored location for the gatherings. It is cloudy today so it has been difficult to get pix of the swarms. This seems very unusual for this time of year.
