Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/09/2013

Number: 1

After sunrise this morning, while sitting at the kitchen window looking out over the birdfeeders taking in the beautiful morning. I was feeling a bit down when all of a sudden a little hummingbird flew up to the window and buzzed in place in front of my face. It took me a second to process that my hummingbirds were back, buzzing me to put out some food! Fearing it was a passer thru,I whipped up hummer food, loaded a feeder and put it out. He sat in the tree lording over all. In less than half an hour he was back and feeding. I recognize this male hummer,he has been coming here for about 3 or 4 years. In checking my incomplete records he arrived May 8, a day earlier in 2010...amazing!
