The male calliope and the female broadtailed hummer were at their separate feeders around 5:30am (sunrise) and returned repeatedly until sundown. Some of the trees/shrubs in our biohedge are just beginning to bloom, and I saw the calliope going from flower to flower on a golden current, as well. Also, there was quite a ruckus in two adjacent juniper trees in our upper hedge, and up to five house sparrows/lbj's flew out of the trees, followed by the male calliope hummer, who immediately returned to the larger tree. (about 12') He headed into the branches of the tree about 3-4 feet above the ground so we hope he's staking out nesting territory!
