My first Ruby-throated hummingbird of the 2013 Season was a lady! She struggled against the wind to light atop my garden arches and then flew directly to one of my three feeders. She perched right next to my hummer decoy and had a good drink from the feeder! Once she left, I scurried about making a fresh batch of warm sugar water nectar and had all 3 feeders changed within 12 minutes of her arrival. She stayed with me all day and I last saw her at 8:22PM. I got up this morning around 6:30AM and it was only 33*F outside. I had all 3 feeders changed again with fresh warm sugar water nectar by 6:53AM. I didn't see her(?) today until just now (12:50PM)as a hummer darted away from feeder #1 when I looked up from the keyboard. Gotta Scoot! Good Luck to everyone for a HUMMERIFIC season!
