Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/13/2013

Number: 1

Delighted to finally have my first Ruby Throated sighting of the season; a male arrived at the feeder this morning at 8:05AM. I have had my feeder up for about 10 days now knowing my friend in Lincoln NH (also in the White Mt Region but south of Franconia Notch) had one arrive on April 28. It was 37 degrees this morning and I think the high of the day will be 50 and it is breazy out. Not much is blooming other than shad, cherry and hobble; there have been some black flies and bugs. What I believe to be the same male has visited the nectar feeder on an off all day but not with much frequency and does not drink all that long before flying off.
