I have been gardening for Hummingbirds for a few years and now seem to have returning birds. They arrive around mothers day each year.

I am sure it was a ruby throat, he came to a feeder very near me. I have had rubys in my yard ( acreage ) just west of Calgary for years. I have seen rufous as well but less so than rubys. Rubys are more common in Alberta and usually arrive just after mothers day.
