Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/25/2013

Number: 1

I was lying on my deck with my eyes closed when I heard a loud buzz over my head -- it was the first hummingbird I'd seen this season. I couldn't tell if it was male or female. It took a quick taste at the hummer feeder, then checked out the oriole feeder, then flew away. It didn't seem to like what it found, although the nectar was fresh. Haven't seen any since. This is unusually late, since I typically get regular visits beginning in mid-May.
